Getting ready for maple syrup season. Step one was putting up the firewood pile. The next step was building a arch. So this weekend we built a cinder block maple syrup arch.
The weather is supposed to turn warmer this week and instead of boiling sap on the wood stove like we did last year we wanted to step it up a bit.
We put the blocks aside in the fall… would have been nice if we had built the arch then to 🙂
If it works well during the sumer we will improve the arch by leveling off the ground and banking soil in around the cinder blocks. For this year this will have to do.
This week we will start tapping trees and we should be ready to boil sap come this weekend.
