We didn’t head down to the cabin this weekend… the weather was bad and we picked up 2 bushels of apples…I have about 24 more jars to do… I can these in a syrup. My wife uses them latter on in the winter for making pies. My basic recipe is the syrup is :
- 1 cup unsweetened apple juice
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
boil that and add it to the jars… boil in water bath canner for 20 minutes… not to bad if I do not say so myself 🙂
